Tips for Vacationing on a Tight Budget

Tips For Budgeting For Vacation

A tight budget does not mean that you must skip vacationing. You can take a memorable vacation even if you don’t want to spend a fortune. Here are some tips to help you stay within the budget and enjoy the journey, too:

- Figure out exactly how much you can spend. Take a realistic look at your finances and calculate how much you can afford to spend without having a mountain of debt waiting for you when you come home. Think about timeshare cancellation if the maintenance fees make keeping it, not affordable.
- Pick a location that is within reasonable distance from where you live. Spending your vacation abroad is more expensive than staying stateside.
- Take your time when browsing accommodation options. You can find great deals online on comparison sites like Expedia or Travelocity.
- Pay for as much as you can in advance. Making advance payments will give you a more accurate idea of how much money you can spend during the vacation.
- Start saving early. Save a little money each week and put it into a separate account. Budget for your regular expenses, including everything from grocery to utility bills, and figure out where you can save. You will be surprised to see how much of your costs you can realistically cut without feeling the difference.
