Avoiding Timeshare Scams During Your Spring Break Vacation

Avoid Contractual Mistakes

There are many scams on the timeshare market that try to manipulate people into buying something they cannot actually afford. The practice of timeshare sellers is to invite people to presentations, attracting them with different promises.

It is good to know that in the invitation to attend an event, the seller must clearly specify the commercial purpose and the nature of the event. The information must be free and presented in a clear way. If you are interested in the timeshare, ask for pictures of the resort and the rooms. If you purchase it, you will be spending your holidays in that place for many years, so make sure this arrangement really suits you. Otherwise it will be a big waste of money and will put you in a position to find someone who can help you with timeshare release options.

To avoid being trapped into a timeshare contract, it is a good idea to know your rights.

  • The seller must provide you with information regarding the terms of the contract before signing it. You must receive this information in writing.
  • You are entitled to a period of reflection during which you can decide to withdraw from the contract without any explanation.
  • The seller cannot ask for a prepayment or deposit during the reflection period.
  • Do not sign immediately. Ask for a copy of the contract that you can read quietly, at home, and talk about it with a specialist.
  • Do not provide the seller with any banking information at this stage.
  • Check out the internet for reviews about the seller.
  • Make sure you get a copy of the contract signed by the seller.
